520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Published on the occasion of the exhibition 'The Shift: Eight Years of Flat Time House', held at Flat Time House, London, 21 April - 29 May 2016. In the eight years since Flat Time House opened, the stencil letters sprayed by John Latham on the walls stating 'the shift' have been a constant, ever-present amongst the works in exhibitions and a backdrop to all the events and discussions that have taken place. Their presence refers to the shift in perception from rational to intuitive thought, as well as the paradigm shift that would be required for the establishment to take on board the new cosmology presented by Lathams theory of Flat Time. In 2003, Latham declared the house a living sculpture, naming it FTHo after his theory. Until his death, Latham opened his door to anyone interested in thinking about art and it is in this spirit that the space opened as a gallery in 2008. As we approach Flat Time Houses imminent closure and metamorphosis into a new articulation, this exhibition brings together works representing virtually all of the exhibitions and projects conceived at Flat Time House, and by the institute offsite, over the last eight years. Curated in collaboration with previous curator/directors Elisa Kay, Claire Louise Staunton and education officer John Hill, The Shift presents an extensive and overflowing selection of artwork that has been inspired by and conceived in this unique space. Artists include: Katriona Beales, Francesca Blomfield, Simon and Tom Bloor, Fausta Bolettieri, Rebecca Burrow, Maurice Carlin, Sophie Chapman, Ami Clarke, Bob Cobbing, Josie Cockram, Mathieu Copeland, Peter Leonard Cox, Patrick Coyle, Virginie Diner, Sophie Eagle, Gill Eatherley, Ella Finer, Barry Flanagan, Foster Spragge, Alex Frost, Sofia Ginevra Gianni, Julika Gittner, Simon Gould, Ryumi Greatrex, Victoria Grenier, Simon Grind, Maria Guggenbichler, Kyla Harris, Haruka Hashiguchi, Henrik Heinonen, John Hill, Russell Hill, Oscar Holloway, Stewart Home, Patrick Hough, Antony Hudek, Adelita Husni-Bey, Per Hüttner & Fatos stek, Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Melanie Jackson, Jakob Jakobsen, Ann-Marie James, Nicholas Johnson, Helen Kaplinsky, Lisa Kim, Cadence Kinsey, Emma Knight, Edward Krasinski, John Latham, Eve Lear, Rebecca Lee, Gil Leung, Gareth Long, Helena Longos, Rafaela Lopez, Park MacArthur, Silvia Maglioni & Graeme Thomson, Sophie Mallett, James Mason, Scott Mason, Baptiste Masson, Mark McGowan, Bea McMahon, Leah Miller-Biot, Modern Activity, Mohammad Namazi, Stella Norris, Rose Parish, Rosa Nussbaum, Tina OConnell, Katrina Palmer, Neena Percy, Rory Pilgrim, Heather Phillipson, Olivia Plender & Patrick Staff, Laure Prouvost, Emily Purser, Carlyle Reedy, Charles Richardson, Flora Robertson, Kari Robertson, Marisol Rodriguez, Adam Saad, Barbara Sanchez, Helen Savage, Necole Schmitz, Rosalie Schweiker, William Sheridan, Eiko Soga, Holly Stevenson, Lady Stubbs, Christina Theodoropoulou, Abigail Thomas, Mark Titchner, David Toop, Sarah Tripp, Eva Tyler, Mary Vettise, Mark Aerial Waller, Freek Wambacq, Sasha Webb, Stuart Whipps, Neal White, Lillian Wilkie, Gili Yuval, Marta Zboralska, and others
