A note on Typographica 6 / John Neilson
Explores what can be done with lettering through the application of imagination, design, and craftsmanship. Together they demonstrate that influence, experimentation and play all have a role in creating innovative, beautiful, thought-provoking works. This exhibition rings together an eclectic and diverse selection of artists and designers who all demonstrate that they are willing to try something new. In doing so, the exhibition sets up a dialogue between the different lettering disciplines encouraging the visitor (and the participants) to consider how the cross-pollination of ideas can benefit the continuing development of lettering and design. Artists include: Mark Frith, Rosella Garavaglia, John Neilson, Errol Donald, Ewan Clayton, Andrew Whittle, Caroline Webb, Sue Hufton, Jeremy Tankard, Richard Kindersley, Eye Magazine, Julia Vance, Will Hill, Mark Noad, Cherrell Avery, Nick Benson, Robbie Schneider, Why Not Associates,, Gordon Young, Michelle de Bruin, Annet Stirling, Susie Leiper, Jim Sutherland, Jeremy Tankard, Brian Jones, Jo Crossland, Kelvyn Smith, Sacha de Leeuw, Charlie Behrens.
