Published on the occasion of the exhbition held at the Lettering Arts Centre, Snape Maltings, Suffolk, 29 June - 9 September 2018.
This eclectic exhibition with its focus solely on the alphabet is an attempt to raise the status of this most useful tool. We seek to create a space where one can not only see some fine examples of calligraphic and carved alphabets in many manifestations and styles, but also to contemplate the thing itself, without being distracted by the words it so adeptly conveys.
